What to send with your translation request
Four things that make a quote accurate and a translation better: the file, the readers, reference material and one named contact.

A good brief saves a day of back-and-forth. When you get in touch, it helps to include the following.
The file itself
Send the editable file if you have it, such as Word, InDesign or a spreadsheet. A PDF is fine for quoting, but an editable source makes delivery faster and cheaper.
Who will read it
A contract for a court reads differently from a leaflet for patients. Tell me who the readers are and where they will meet the text.
Reference material
Earlier translations, a glossary or a style guide help me match what your readers already know. If none exist, I build a short glossary during the job and share it with you at delivery.
One contact
Name one person who can answer questions about meaning. Most texts raise two or three, and quick answers keep the schedule on track.
